Ryan’s Big Shave Raises Big Funds For Motor Neurone Disease Association

Leeds Rhinos fan Ryan Thomas was so inspired by Kevin Sinfield’s efforts to raise money for the MND Association with his amazing 7 in 7 challenge in honour of Rob Burrow that he decided to do something to raise money for this fantastic charity himself and decided to shave off his impressive and somewhat loved beard!

Ryan told us a bit more:

Firstly I’ve always been a rugby league and avid Leeds Rhinos fan so as soon as I heard the news about Rob having MND it really knocked me for six. I watched the television program about him on the BBC “Rob Burrow, My Year With MND” and it really got to me, everyone knows what he’s like wearing the shirt but this documentary goes behind the shirt and shows you Rob Burrow the family man fighting this awful disease with his wife and kids.

I decided I wanted to do something so I decided to shave my head and beard to raise money for Rob and MND, to start with, I was just going to shave my beard but quite a few friends said they would sponsor me more if I shaved my head too so I decided that’s what I would do.

When I first set my target, I set it at £777 due to Rob wearing the number 7 shirt, but honestly I didn’t think I’d get anywhere near it. I actually did hit it so I decided to raise my target to £1500, as it stands today I’ve managed to raise £1296.

So on 18th January the transformation took place when Ryan shaved off his hair and of course that impressive beard!

The transformation – before & after!

You can still donate to Ryan’s Just Giving page and help him get closer to his £1500 target by following this link:

You have plenty of time to join me on my journey to help Rob and this amazing charity, so please donate as much as you can towards a great cause. In return you will see me turn into a normal looking person instead of a hobo as you all called me on many occasions before :)))
