Rothwell was at one time a village lying in a sheltered valley just to
the south east of Leeds in West Yorkshire, England. (Before that Leeds
was a
small place to the north west of Rothwell.) Now a small town of around
21,000 souls, Rothwell still has many links to it's fascinating past.
This site was started to mark the millennium year and records events and news of the millennium celebrations in and around Rothwell. The pages were originally produced by the "Rothwell Millennium Group" with the help of many local volunteers. They are now operated by the webmasters of the LS26.org.uk community website. Here you will find the most complete set of links for the Rothwell area, and a lovely selection of local pictures . Also on the Rothwell section of the site we have a set of interesting articles and links relating to the history of Rothwell . If you are looking for info on the Rothwell Library, then look on the learning in rothwell page. Rothwell is an active community with lots of groups, clubs and societies. If we've missed anything please let us know - maybe you could write something up - we'll be glad to add it to the site. Contact us to ask. |

Until
recently a mining town, Rothwell still retains its strong
community spirit. This web site tells just a little about the
Rothwell of yesterday, today, and shows that Rothwell has an
exciting future.
