  • Is part of a worldwide fellowship called. Assemblies of God, which is part of the Pentecostal Movement.
  • We believe that the bible is still relevant to people today.
  • It’s central message is about a person, the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was born 2000 years ago and, because he lived a perfect, sinless life, was able to take the punishment for all our wrong doings when He died on the cross.
  • Anyone who accepts this message can receive forgiveness and find God as their Saviour and Friend.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ still heals today, and we pray with people who are sick.
  • The bible teaches that the early church was a group of people, who cared about the community in which they lived.
  • We are a group of people who live mainly in the Rothwell, Woodlesford and Oulton area. There are people of all ages and from various backgrounds, all with one common purpose, to see God’s Kingdom established in conjunction with other churches in the Rothwell area.

Each week we hold informal meetings when we worship God together and hear a relevant biblical message.

After the meeting we get together and chat over a cup of tea/coffee.

We meet at 10.30am each Sunday at:  hall

The Scout Hall,
Haigh Road,
Rothwell, Leeds

  • As a church we have had a very busy year; much to our pleasure. Throughout the months we have had new challenges and new goals to reach. God has been good to us, and has caused us to grow numerically; but more than this we have seen growth of character and maturity come to each one of us.

Serving the Lord Jesus is the greatest thing to do, knowing God as our Father who art in heaven, is an amazing reality. God loves us with an everlasting love, one which never fails or fades as the years go by.

He is a constant friend faithful in every way; may I recommend Him to you. The Bible says to seek and you will find, be assured that as you seek the truth of who God is, you will find your Saviour.

    Much love and many prayers

Craft Classesdscf1026

Our Craft Classes have been run Bi-Monthly in Blackburn Hall for a number of years now and we have a group of around thirty people who do all sorts of crafts, including card making, glass painting, box making and lots of other different things.

Throughout the months we have made some wonderful friends; many have come from the very beginning, so friendships have developed. There is always an atmosphere of fun and friendship. Please feel free to come along.

Helping Hands 2005_0522image0003

We were concerned that we should be what our church is called ‘community church’ so we decided to go out into the community and see what needed to be done. We began on John O’Gaunts estate where we have developed our ‘Helping Hands Team’ visits. There have been many people that we have been able to help, mostly with gardening. So often families have enjoyed a nice garden only to be taken ill and so watch as what was once a place of rest and relaxation becomes a nightmare.

This is where we have been able to step in and take over the role of gardener. We have helped the elderly, sick and several single mums take back control of what was quickly becoming a wilderness.

The greatest joy from our ‘Helping Hands’ is that we have come to know many people and have built some lifelong friendships. The old song ‘a stranger is just a friend you do not know’ is so true.

We are thankful for all our new friends.

Youth in Action dscf1023

There is so much criticism of the youth of our nation; that I want to take time out to commend our church young people to you. Most of them, but not all, come from church families, and have grown up in the church. However there is something about each one of them that recognises the need to reach our community.

Our youth have taken several of our Sunday Morning services and have caused many a laugh to explode form the congregation. Their talents lie in musical ability, dance, mime and simply having fun.

In September, the youth organised a free fun day; it consisted of different activities such as face painting, a nail salon and ‘splat the rat’ (no real animals were harmed). Every one had a great time; lots of children and grown ups came along making the event a roaring success.

This was followed by a youth service, to which around ten new young people came.

Each Friday ‘Youth Well’ meets together at The Scout Hall, Haigh Road @ 7.30pm.

We’ve been to prison

Prison Ministry

Early on in the year God added to us a lady who already visited several prisons in our region. Over the years I felt that this was what God would like us to so as a church too, so when she joined our church it was as if God had opened yet another door for us to walk through.

So every few weeks we go in and take services within the prison sector. We have some great times with the ladies we visit, some of who can giggle with those infectious giggles that set us all off. It is only God that can bring such joy into hard times. Many of the prisoners have come to know God whilst serving their time and expressed the strength He has given them.

After our visits we too are strengthened, and blessed as we have served our God in this way.

Mission Trip collage7

Our first mission trip took place in September 2006 when we set off for Slovakia. It was an exciting time, now our dream was about to become a reality. Our vision was to work along side the gypsy people and we had the opportunity to visit and help a church plant. The Pastor wanted to reach the gypsy people of Slavocovce, so we jumped at the chance.

Out trip covered ten days, and was one adrenalin rush after another. We took some lessons in the local school, where we taught English to the students and had fun at the same time. Sports afternoons were just the thing, the children loved it, to them baseball was a must as they had only really seen it on television. They were so loving and just wanted to be with these British people who had cared enough to visit.

Thankfully the language was not a barrier; although we had interpreters, actions spoke just as loud as words.

Along with the local church we put on several meetings, that were very well attended; we also visited the gypsy sites which was the highlight of our time.

Although the people were so very poor they still wanted to share a coffee and a meal with us; we were overwhelmed at their generosity; they gave out of the little they had, often over and above what they could afford.

We made some good and lasting friendships in Slovakia, and are already planning our next trip is August 2008. there is such great need in these camps, and love and acceptance is the greatest

Street Girls

Many people look upon these girls with judgement and criticism but there is a story in the Bible (Luke 7: 36) of a prostitute comes to the feet of Jesus and washes His feet with her tears and dries them with her hair. To me, if Jesus accepted her and set her free from her sin, then so should we. He did not judge her or condemn her; rather He showed her a way out of the mess she was in. we have taken small gifts out to the girls and always added a hug to our gift. So often the girls cry as they receive a hug simply to show love to them and for no other reason.

After our time with them we have cried and praised God for what we have and asked for ways we can do so much more for these girls.

As yet we have no way of doing more, although we would love to. If you can help or know of some way we can be more involved; or some way you could help then please contact us on the number below.

We have been meeting in The Scout Hall, Haigh Road for nine years now, and are quickly out growing the room. We know that God will meet all our needs according to His riches in glory; so that we can extend the work we are doing, as we serve this community.

God is still a God of Miracles

Several weeks ago we prayed for a young lady who had problems with her bladder. Four years ago the hospital told her the muscles in it were dead, so from then she had to use a catheter.

After praying for her she has been totally healed—everything has been working naturally since that time. We give God thanks.

Another lady who was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis around 12 years ago, gradually got better and better as a result of continual prayer, at her last consultation x-rays showed, no damage or inflammation to hands or feet. We are believing for complete health.

God is a miracle working God!
