14th November 2008 - Kirkby Overblow Church Concert
Last Saturday, the band played an excellent concert at Kirkby Overblow Church in Harrogate. The capacity audience really enjoyed the show the band put on, and went home thoroughly impressed with the band's performance.
The band actually ran out of Concert Collection CDs due to the high demand. If anyone missed out on getting one, please contact us through the website.
26th October 2008 - Aireborough Rotary Club Concert
Last night, the band performed at a sell-out concert in Yeadon Town Hall for Aireborough Rotary Club. The band's guest conductor for the evening was Frank Renton, presenter of BBC Radio 2's Listen To The Band programme; the band's regular conductor, David Roberts, watched from the front row of the audience!
The audience enjoyed both the band's performance and Frank's explanations of the music and went home thoroughly entertained. The concert featured several soloists from the band's ranks including James McCabe on cornet, Catherine Roberts ("no relation to the conductor, she's his wife") on horn and Andy Marsh and Matthew Allsop playing a Euphonium duet.
12th October 2008 - Band Placed 6Th At Albert Hall
Yesterday, the band played in the Royal Albert Hall in London for the National Finals of Great Britain. The band rounded off their contest year in style with an excellent sixth place, beating current reigning champions Grimethorpe, who could only manage seventh after a terrible number one draw.
