Rothwell in Bloom is a group of local people aiming to encourage others to take pride in the Rothwell area byworking to improve public areas, private gardens and businesspremises. We work closely with Parks & Countrysidedivision of Leeds City Council and with our local wardcouncillors. Working parties start every Thursday morningat 10.00 until 12 noon, meeting at the car park behind the Black Bull with a break for tea and biscuits. There is no need to know anything about gardens,or garden plants, just if you want to contribute to improve Rothwell. Monthly meetingsare held on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. inthe Windmill Youth Centre, Marsh Street, Rothwell. In 2009, we opened the newly developed library garden, and planted up the beds near the roundabout at Church Street & Butcher lane. In October we planted bulbs in the church yard of Holy Trinity church in conjunction with members of the congregation. In 2010 we will be contributing to the re-furbished Commercial Street, and a new seat will be provided near Gillett Bridge-watch out for the welcome sign on the new planter on Marsh Street at its junction with Gillet Lane.
All
are welcome to come along to find out how we work and to
offer comments and advice. We are always looking for more
volunteers – not only for working parties but to
help with planning, fund raising and general finance.
