Plans for around 220 new homes in Rothwell will be consulted on at a public exhibition next week.
The land off Bullough Lane is allocated for housing development in the Leeds Site Allocations Plan which is expected to be adopted later this month by Leeds City Council. Barratt Homes are displaying their plans for the site to the local community at a consultation event on Tuesday 9 July, between 3pm and 7pm at Blackburn Hall, Commercial Street in Rothwell.
The proposed housing development will include a mix of two, three and four bedroom family homes. In addition to providing affordable housing for the area, the proposals will also deliver new public open space and provide financial contributions to improve local services and facilities including schools. A large number of jobs will also be created during construction.
David Coe, Development Director at Barratt Homes, commented: “Leeds City Council have recognised the need to release additional housing sites across the City to meet its current and future housing needs. “The Bullough Lane, Rothwell site is one of the sites identified by the Council for release for new housing development. We believe the development of the site will provide much needed housing for people in a convenient and sustainable location.
“Subject to planning approval, we can deliver approximately 220 new homes on the site, along with new public open spaces for the area. We are committed to working with the community and we hope as many people as possible attend the public consultation event to discover what Barratt Homes are proposing on this site and to provide their feedback.”
Barratt Homes intend to submit a planning application for the site later this year.
