The success of our ‘Postcard to home’ project earlier this year which we spearheaded with the help of Peter Smith of Dementia Friendly Rothwell has now progressed to ‘Christmas Cards to Home’.
The local community has once again come up trumps and have really got behind the initiative to be fully inclusive and compassionate about those who are less fortunate and unable to get out and about. It was quite heart warming that so many people took the time this summer to buy a postcard, write a message and send it to the residents at Oulton Manor Care Home that it is now even better that the project, has quite naturally moved onto Christmas Cards!
This time around even more homes are involved, as well as Oulton Manor we have Home Lea, Dolphin Manor and Mulgrave House. Plus, we also have local schools involved, namely Holy Trinity, Rothwell Primary and Rothwell Victoria.
If you would like to participate by sending a Christmas Card – or even a homemade card, created by your children or grand children please click here to see a list of local care homes who would appreciate receiving some Christmas Cheer!
Plus you don’t have to post it, as from December 1st, you can leave cards with our friends at the Rothwell Record office on Commercial street and they will distribute them accordingly.
And it all started with a postcard and great community spirit!
Well done LS26’ers!
