What’s On… 7th June 2018 onwards

Hello to everyone out there. So the weathers changed over the last few days; a bit overcast and cooler, but at least the rain seems to be staying away for now….. Here’s this weeks What’s On list which hopefully the weather won’t spoil.


OPEN MIC NIGHT
FRIDAY 8TH JUNE 8PM ONWARDS

Friday Nights sees the  Open Mic night hosted by AndyG. The evening is open to anyone who wants to sing, play a tune or strum a guitar, or maybe even all three! The fun starts at 8pm, everyone is very welcome to take part or just listen and relax.


GARFORTH IN BLOOM SUMMER FAIR
SATURDAY 9TH JUNE 10AM – 12NOON

Not LS26 but everyone likes a fair!!! Lots to look at from Cakes to Plants and Crafts. Plus if your feeling lucky, give the Raffle and tombola a go 🙂


ST AIDANS COMMUNITY LITTER PICK
SUNDAY 10TH JUNE 11AM – 3PM
St Aidan’s Nature Reserve, Astley Lane, LS26 8AL

RSPB St. Aidan’s Nature Park is a beautiful location, a great place for people to enjoy the outdoors and a fantastic habitat for wildlife.
They are looking for volunteers to join them on a litter pick to help keep the site looking fantastic. Meeting outside the Vistor Centre (opposite Oddball) at 11am and working until approximately 3pm.
Accompanied children welcome. Please wear suitable clothing, footwear and bring gloves.
Litter pickers and bags will be provided. Tea and coffee provided, but please bring your own lunch.
Toilets/washing facilities are also available.

PEOPLES PICNIC

Come and join in with your picnic on the performance area near the bandstand. There will be music and games, and great fun for all the family.


STRAWBERRY FAYRE CONCERT
SUNDAY 10TH JUNE 3.30PM – 6.30PM

Hosted by Lets Sing 26, join them for a summer afternoon of song and strawberry fayre.
Tickets cost just £6 which include a strawberry delight dessert and refreshments.

BEHIND THE SCENES AT ST AIDAN’S
WEDNESDAY 13TH JUNE 2PM – 4PM
St Aidan’s Nature Reserve, Astley Lane, LS26 8AL

Lots of fascinating work goes on behind the scenes at St Aidan’s, all to help make it the best it can be for nature and wildlife. The warden work programme changes with the seasons and includes everything from digging lovely, muddy scrapes for waders, to counting lapwing nests on the wet grassland.
Head out on a guided walk with one of the wardens to find out more about the work that goes into managing the different habitats across the site.
This walk should last approximately two hours, please dress for the weather with good footwear.

GIRLS FOOTBALL TRAINING
WEDNESDAY 13TH JUNE

Rothwell Juniors Girls are looking for new players for the 2018/19 season. The girls must be of school year 9 as of September this year, and have the enthusiasm to train and play football. Training is on Wednesday evenings, with home games played on Sundays. Please be aware that away games may be played on either Saturdays or Sundays.
The club are serious about the beautiful game, but the emphasis is on having fun and making new friends. They have a positive attitude to player development, are a FA Chartered Standard Club and have excellent football facilities including a 3G pitch. And just so you know your kids are being looked after, all the Coaches are F.A. Qualified, First Aid Trained and DBS Checked.
