MEET THE RAT BREWER & RAT INN-FESTATION FESTIVAL
THURSDAY 24TH – SUNDAY 27TH MAY
The Black Bull, 15 Commercial Street, Rothwell, LS26 0AX

The long weekend kicks off tomorrow, with Robin Moss from the Rat Brewery for an evening of ales, Yorkshire tapas and an acoustic set from Chris Ferguson. You should all have your tickets by now, which as well as the above, includes 9 thirds of Rat ale! Rat merchandise will also be available to purchase.

For Friday through to Sunday there will be 9 superb Rat ales to try, a selection of ciders, and a great music festival to enjoy, plus an outside bar & street food.
Music will be brought to you from Wired, a 4 piece band playing the best music from the last 7 decades, plus Soul Attitude, a 9 piece northern soul, Motown and Ska band.


STORYTIME
FRIDAY 25TH MAY 10.30AM – 11AM
Rothwell Community Hub, Marsh Street, Rothwell, LS26 0AE

Grab the kids and get yourselves down to the Hub for a fun session of sharing stories and much more in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It’s a great opportunity to meet other parents and carers and for your children to interact with others. This is a free event for under 5’s, which runs every Friday.

TREE WALK
SATURDAY 26TH MAY 10AM ONWARDS
Rothwell Country Park, Bullough Lane, LS26 0JY

Meet with Countryside Ranger Pete Banks for an insight into the many different species of trees that can be found at the country park. Also discover some of the history and find out about the fantastic work carried out by the Friend of Rothwell Country Park.
The walk is free and will last approximately 2 hours, but there are limited places, so please contact the Countryside Ranger on 07891 277108 or email peter.banks@leeds.gov.uk as soon as possible to ensure your place on the walk.
There will be refreshments provided. Please meet at the Bullough Lane entrance barrier.


CAR BOOT SALE

First car boot sale of 2018 at Lofthouse Millennium Green.
No need to book spaces, just turn up on the day. Cars £7, Vans £10, Trailers an extra £3. Please arrive in good time to set up.
Refreshments are available and toilet facilities can be found over the road in the Methodist Church Hall.
All proceeds go to the upkeep of the community green.

Children aged 10-16 years may attend for free if parents are doing the session.


RHUBARBFEST!

Good news…. the Carlton Rhubarbfest is back for another year! It’s a great family friendly free festival for all to enjoy. There’ll be plenty of rides, stalls and attractions, plus lots of Real Ales, food and drink.

COAL MINING THROUGH THE AGES
SUNDAY 27TH MAY 1.30PM – 3.30PM
Middleton Park, Town Street, Middleton, LS10 3SH

Embark on a walk to enjoy ‘Coal Mining through the Ages’ and commemorate the 50th anniversary year of the closure of Broom Pit, which used to be in the Park.
The guided walk will set off at 1.30pm from the Visitor Centre,  and your experienced volunteer guides will highlight the park’s extensive mining heritage, with an emphasis on Broom Pit and its history.
The walk will last approximately 2 hours. Stout shoes or boots are recommended as there will be some ‘off path’ walking and exploring through the park’s fields and woodlands.
And at the end of the walk if you would be so kind to give them a donation, they’ll supply you with a piece of cake in return!


PAINT A CUP AND COASTER
TUESDAY 29TH MAY 12NOON – 3.30PM
Rivers Meet, Leeds Road, Methley, LS26 9EP

The Pottery Den will be at River Meets in the school holidays next Tuesday for a Fathers Day event.
For £12 they are offering you a chance to paint your own work of art on a cup and a coaster, which will then be glazed, fired and then delivered back in time for Fathers Day.
Once you have finished your pottery item, you can then make your own gift tag for it.
All items are washable and food safe and will be ready for collection from River Meets in 5-7 days after painting.


GT SPORTS HALF TERM HOLIDAY CAMP

Tuesday sees the start of the half term holiday camp run by GT Sports, which you should all have booked your places for by now. If not there are still a few places left, see below:

The camp is for school years 1 to 6, ages 5 to 11
 – the week will include lots of fun activities, with Thursday being football day, where they will be using 2 new inflatables during the day – the new Hungerball arena!
Hungerball is a new flavour of football coming to the UK all the way from New Zealand! Players enter the specially designed, inflatable arena and face off in a wild game of 6 way football! With a wide range of ways to play, individually or on teams, Hungerball is a blast for all ages and skill levels!

They are accepting up to 5 children from Reception each day….please contact Glenn before booking reception children as this will be on a first come first served basis….

They will also be starting at 8am and finishing at 5pm for those that require. This will be an additional cost of £3 per each extra hour.  (Unfortunately they will not be providing breakfast for people starting at 8am.) Please message after booking regarding the additional hours.

DEMENTIA CARERS SUPPORT GROUP

If you’re a carer for someone with dementia, why not join the support group at the Black Bull, where you can chat with like minded people who understand the role you play and can give support and advise in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.


ROTHWELL JUNIORS SUMMER FOOTBALL CAMP
WEDNESDAY 30TH MAY – FRIDAY 1ST JUNE

This Kids coaching course is the first of 2 camps being held this year by Rothwell Juniors FC. The course is for 5-11 year olds at a cost of £15 per day.
