MOSAIC ART EXHIBITION
WEDNESDAY 18TH OCTOBER

Mary Goodwin is a local mosaic artist and will be holding a fabulous exhibition at Dill & Bay tonight. Please pop in and have a look at her work, it is truly fantastic!


CO OP COLOURING COMPETITION

Free Halloween Colouring Competition starting today and the winners will be drawn on the Monday 30th October so they will have there prizes in time for Halloween

CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA EVENING

ECCDS CHARITY COFFEE MORNING

Charity coffee morning with stalls in aid of the Education Centre for Children with Down Syndrome.

BEDTIME STORY SESSION
FRIDAY 20TH OCTOBER – 6.15PM – 6.45PM

Please bring your child along with their pyjamas for the telling of a bedtime story. Milk and biscuits will also be provided.
The session is not only for the kids, but also the provide parents and carers with information on the importance of reading to a child.


LIVE BAND NIGHT!
FRIDAY 20TH OCTOBER – 9PM – 12AM

Victoria Shakes is the latest live band to feature at the Old Halfway House. They play a wide range of songs from 60s classics to modern pop hits, electric and acoustic.
A great way to start off the weekend!


CHARITY TABLE TOP SALE

After the excitement of the following evenings live band, you can chill out with a fantastic Charity table top sale! There will be face painting, a bun sale, tombola, raffle and much more….

All proceeds will go straight to Breast Cancer Now.

GO BANANAS FOR APPLE DAY!
SATURDAY 21ST OCTOBER – 1PM – 4PM
Thwaite Mills Orchard Explorers, Thwaite Lane, LS10 1RP

I know its not quite LS26 but still an interesting way to spend your Saturday afternoon.
Go along to celebrate apple day and explore the ancient orchard at Thwaite Mills Watermill and discover more about traditional types of apples. A fun filled day with fruit themed activities such as apple bobbing, making fruit juice from a press, longest peel competitions, craft activities, and even a demonstration of a fruit power station!

Started in 1990 by Common Ground, Apple Day is as an annual celebration of Britain’s rich apple growing heritage.  Apple Day events are now held across the length and breadth of Britain throughout the month of October and on Apple Day itself – 21st October.

Helping Britain Blossom is a partnership between Heineken and The Orchard Project. It was established to create and restore community orchards across Britain.

Seven community orchards, including one in Cottingley, were planted in under used spaces and council parkland in and around Leeds in 2016 with the support of Helping Britain Blossom.


AIR GUITAR PARTY NIGHT!
SATURDAY 21ST OCTOBER – 7.30PM – 12AM

Another fun filled evening of music brought to you by Disco Dave and DJ Deryck. Join in the fun and have a rocking’ good time at the Air Guitar Party Night.
There will be lots of Classic and Glam Rock from the 70’s and 80’s for you to enjoy.

If you enjoy a good old fashioned apple bob then this is the weekend for you. Not only is there the Twaite Mills event on Saturday (details above), but here’s another one for you to enjoy!
Bring your own apples or have a go at juicing theirs! Plus apple-themed games and activities. They’ll be other fun for the kids as well with Wild Apple Play.


WITCH TOUR OF FRIGHTFUL FAIRBURN….
MONDAY 23RD  TO WEDNESDAY 25TH OCTOBER – 5PM
Fairburn Ings, Newton Lane, Castleford WF10 2BH

Join the RSPB this half term on a frightful tour of Fairburn Ings as the darkness starts to creep in. Grab your torches, wrap up warm and prepare to hear some horrible history, discover some grisly creatures, and find out what goes bump in the night on a real nature reserve!
Fancy dress is encouraged!
Meet at Fairburn Ings visitor centre for an approximately 1 hour walk. The centre will be open to provide a free hot chocolate and sell snacks/sandwiches either before or after your spooky adventure!
The nights are aimed at children of all ages, most suitable for children 6+ with a responsible adult. Hot drink and parking included in the price.
